Canadian, French, and British foreign ministers strongly condemned the IDF’s late-Tuesday incursion into Gaza City, warning of further escalation.
Israel has launched a new ground offensive in Gaza City, which Canada's foreign minister described as "horrific."
"It worsens the humanitarian crisis and jeopardizes the release of the hostages,"
the foreign ministry said in a post on X.
"The Government of Israel must adhere to international law."
Furthermore, France labeled the operation a "destructive campaign" that "no longer has a military rationale" and "strongly condemned" it.
The French foreign ministry demanded an urgent restart of ceasefire and hostage-deal discussions and urged the offensive in Gaza City to end.
Yvette Cooper, the recently appointed Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, described the operation as "utterly reckless and appalling."
"It will only bring more bloodshed, kill more innocent civilians & endanger the remaining hostages,"
she added.
Cooper demanded the release of all hostages, a "immediate ceasefire," and "a path to lasting peace."
The IDF launched Operation Gideon's Chariots II, the invasion of Gaza City, on Monday night.
After receiving off-record confirmation late Monday night, IDF Arabic Spokesperson Col. Avichay Adraee formally announced the military's invasion of Gaza City for the first time on Tuesday.
In addition to a considerable number of soldiers ordered into mandatory duty, there had been a call-up of 130,000 reservists, with an expected response rate of about 80%.
What is the global reaction to the escalation of the Gaza Conflict?
Numerous foreign nations and organizations, such as the UN and the EU, and states, including Qatar, Turkey, and South Africa called for a cessation of hostilities and for humanitarian assistance access to Gaza.
A resolution in the UN General Assembly called for a continued humanitarian ceasefire and halt of hostilities, passing with the yes votes from the significant majority of states who are members of the assembly.
These states also described their concerns about an increasing toll on civilians and called on Israel to be restrained in its military response.
