Following the US capture of Nicolás Maduro, Belin urged restraint and emphasized the importance of a negotiated political solution.

The foreign ministry stated that it was in constant contact with the Caracas embassy and that a travel alert had been sent.

"We call on all involved parties to avoid an escalation of the situation and to seek ways for a political settlement,"

stated a written statement that was acquired following a meeting of the ministry's crisis team.

"International law has to be respected ... Venezuelans deserve a peaceful and democratic future,"

it added.

Its communications were in line with those of EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who urged compliance to international laws, and EU top diplomat Kaja Kallas, who has consistently declared that Maduro "is lacking in legality."

German intellectuals and politicians had contrasting stances on Saturday. While some applauded Maduro's defeat, others condemned what they saw as the break from the post-1945 Western world's rules-based system.

Which EU institutions did Germany involve in crisis coordination?

Germany's extremity team on Venezuela has primarily involved the European External Action Service( EEAS) and the Foreign Affairs Council( FAC) for collaboration, using these as central capitals for real- time intelligence sharing and unified messaging.

Direct consultations with High Representative Kaja Kallas's office, includingpost-strike briefings from the EU delegation in Caracas to align de-escalation strategies. Participation in exigency FAC videotape calls to attend member countries' positions on UN agreement and trip warnings, avoiding fractured responses.

Connections with the European Commission concentrated on consular protections for EU citizens, while no European Council peak- position involvement reported as of January 4, 2026; emphasis remains politic over functional.
