A new opinion poll
shows most Germans support the federal government’s proposals to curb asylum
immigration amid growing political pressure.
53% of respondents to a YouGov survey for the German news
agency DPA said they totally support Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt's
goal of lowering the number of asylum seekers entering the country, while
another 23% indicated they would like to support the program.
According to the Xinhua news agency, only 15% of respondents
said they disagreed with the strategy, and the rest stated they were undecided.
With the exception of vulnerable categories like pregnant women and the gravely
ill, Dobrindt has authorized the rejection of asylum seekers at Germany's
borders and ordered tighter border inspections since entering office in May.
Additionally, he is pushing for more stringent asylum
regulations at the EU level that would allow the creation of "return
centers," which would house asylum applicants who must leave Germany
before being sent back to their home countries.
Despite this conduct, just 8% of repliers claimed to have
observed a perceptible movement in immigration policy, while 42% claimed to
have seen none at all.
Between December 12 and 15, over 2,100 eligible voters
shared in the YouGov check.
According to public broadcaster ARD, authorities in the
eastern German state of Saxony- Anhalt said before this week that they had
arrested a 21- years-old man who was allegedly conniving in an attack on
sizable gatherings.
The suspect, who was characterized as coming from"
Central Asia," but whose exact country was n't revealed, was arrested by
police last Friday. According to the state of Saxony- Anhalt's interior
ministry, he has been detained while awaiting expatriation.
The state's innards minister, Tamara Zieschang, stated on
Tuesday that the suspect had recently been witnessing nursing specialty
training and had arrived in Germany in 2024.
After noticing suggestions of growing radicalization,
similar to a keen interest in arms, authorities started keeping an eye on
him.
In a different incident, five further individuals were
arrested before this month in Bavaria, a state in the south, on suspicion of
organizing an auto assault on a Christmas request.

measures to check shelter immigration in Germany.
He supported maintaining stationary checks at all borders,
rejecting most irregular entrants except vulnerable groups, and supported
EUpre-entry webbing centers with fast- track procedures up to 12 weeks for low-
recognition cases before junking.
New plans include means tests for Ukrainian exile benefits, expandedcyber-operations against bootleggers, concluding out of EU relocation proportions, and return centers near origin countries to boost displacements.
