At least 67 Palestinians, including aid seekers, were killed
by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, with attacks targeting
residential buildings and aid distribution points, according to medics. Rescue
efforts continue amid ongoing Israeli military operations that have devastated
Gaza since October 2023.
Deadly Strikes Across Gaza Strip
As reported by Anadolu Agency, a medical source confirmed
that four people died and others were injured when Israeli drones struck a
group of civilians in Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip. Nine people lost their
lives in Israeli strikes on residential buildings in the Sheikh Radwan
neighbourhood of Gaza City.
In the Tel Hawa neighbourhood, also in Gaza City, 14 people
were killed when an Israeli strike hit a building. Separately, three people
died at an aid distribution point in the same area following an Israeli
warplane attack. Another aid distribution site in Gaza City's Al-Rimal
neighbourhood was hit, killing three people and injuring several others.
In western Gaza City, two Palestinians were killed when an
Israeli shell struck a tent, and a young Palestinian died from Israeli gunfire
injuries sustained in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip.
Civil defence teams retrieved 11 bodies, including three
children and two women, from rubble in the al-Daraj neighbourhood of Gaza City.
Efforts were ongoing to rescue seven children trapped under the rubble,
including a 16-month-old toddler.
Targeting of Civilians Awaiting Aid
The Israeli army also opened fire on civilians waiting for
aid in several locations. At the Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza, nine people
were killed, and others were injured while awaiting aid delivery. One Palestinian
succumbed to gunfire injuries in Deir al-Balah.
In southern Gaza, Israeli forces killed six civilians and
injured others waiting for aid in Khan Younis. Further strikes in Khan Younis
resulted in four deaths, according to medics from the Nasser Medical Complex.
An Israeli drone strike targeted a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians in
southern Al-Mawasi of Khan Younis, injuring several civilians.
Devastation and Rising Death Toll
Since October 2023, more than 63,600 Palestinians have been
killed in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli military campaign, which has caused
widespread devastation and famine. The International Criminal Court issued
arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former
Defence Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity
allegedly committed in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the
International Court of Justice over its war on Gaza.
This latest wave of killings continues a distressing pattern
of violence involving residential areas and aid distribution sites,
complicating efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the civilian
population amid escalating hostilities.
