The Justice Department will investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged ties to Bill Clinton and JPMorgan, following President Trump’s push to shift scrutiny away from himself.
The action is the most recent in a string of requests made by Trump for federal law enforcement to investigate his alleged political adversaries, and it occurs two days after a congressional committee disclosed thousands of documents that raised further concerns about Trump's ties with the late financier.
The inquiry will be led by Manhattan's top federal prosecutor, Jay Clayton, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi.
Trump claimed to have urged the Justice Department to look into former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman, the inventor of LinkedIn and a well-known Democratic fundraiser, in addition to Clinton, who had socialized with Epstein in the early 2000s. The House Oversight Committee disclosed 20,000 documents relating to Epstein on Wednesday, and all three men were mentioned.
"Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat’s problem, not the Republican’s problem!"
Trump wrote on social media.
"They all know about him, don't waste your time with Trump. I have a Country to run!"
During the 1990s and 2000s, Trump and Epstein were musketeers; still, Trump claims that their fellowship ended before Epstein entered a shamefaced plea to charges of soliciting a minor for harlotry in 2008.
Trump has continuously denied being apprehensive of the late financier's mistreatment and trafficking of minors for coitus. Still, Trump's administration has been indicted of a cover- up by some of his most hot followers. Over the past many days, as fresh information regarding Epstein has come to light, Trump, who regularly interacts with the media, has neglected to answer questions.
Coming week, the Republican- controlled House of Representatives
is listed to bounce on a bill that would impel the Justice Department to make
public all of the information it has about Epstein.
What specific allegations is the DOJ investigating in the Epstein
probe?
Implicit money laundering, with prosecutors examining fiscal deals linked to Epstein and his businesses starting as beforehand as 2003. This includes large cash recessions suspected to be expended to women who were victims. Operating an unlicensed plutocrat transmitting business, related to these suspicious fiscal deals.
Alleged connections to political figures similar to Bill Clinton and other prominent individualities, as part of a wider inquiry urged by President Trump to explore Epstein’s ties to Egalitarians and fiscal institutions.
While no definitive evidence has surfaced of blackmail or direct felonious conditioning by Epstein’s high- profile associates, the DOJ’s inquiry aims to unravel the fiscal and conceivably political networks girding Epstein’s crimes. The disquisition is also examining allegations of prosecutorial misconduct in the original running of the case and attempts to negotiate a lenient plea deal despite substantial substantiation.
